Illinois Winter Session

Illinois Winter Session It’s finally winter break for us here at Illinois! While these few weeks are a time of rest and recovery for a lot of students, a handful like to take advantage of this time off to take an extra class, study abroad, or go on medical brigade trips to underdeveloped countries. Illinois gives students the option to take classes during the winter term. For those who are up to take the challenge of taking a high-demand course in a few short weeks, the school offers many options. The biggest take-away from winter sessions are developing time management skills and getting one step closer to graduation. Illinois also offers study abroad programs during the winter term. From Morocco to Costa Rica, and even India, Illinois has so many opportunities for students of all majors. If you are interested in studying abroad, check out Illinois’ study abroad site and this can get you started on planning a once in a lifetime experience! Medical brigade trips are popular among Illinois’ pre-health students. I know friends who have traveled to Panama, Nicaragua, and other disadvantaged populations. It is an opportunity to be exposed to life outside of campus and home, and to see, first-hand, the struggles that people face to gain access to basic healthcare. Students are able to gain hours of clinical experience, and more importantly, build relationships with native residents, doctors, and fellow pre-health students. As you can see, Illinois never rests, even during the holidays! Students are always finding ways to make a change around the world and I hope some of you find yourselves doing the same while representing UIUC in the near future! Happy Holidays! Kripa Class of 2020 I'm majoring in Psychology, minoring in Spanish, and pursuing a pre-dental track. It seems like I’m all over the place, but that’s what I like about college! I get to choose to study what I’m interested in, and I’m happy to be doing just that at Illinois.
